The second to last episode was interesting and again not as procedural as House usually is (although I'm not bothered by that at all). It reminded me of "Three Stories" and I liked it very much.
House has apparently been in therapy with Nolan for the whole year and was late for his session. So Nolan wanted to find out why and why he had a bruise on his arm. Turned out he got kicked in a bar fight because he was drunk. Nolan concluded that House wanted to punish himself for something; House started telling him about his week and Nolan commented on everything.
The week wasn't good for House: Wilson wanted him out of the apartment because he wanted to move in with Sam. House was disappointed, but left anyway. Back in his apartment, he realized that Alvie (the guy he met in the mental hospital) had been crashing at his place (and repainting it) because immigration was looking for him. House had a good time with Alvie and Alvie even helped him foind out more about his patient, a woman who suffered from amnesia. The woman blacked out while jogging and couldn't remember a thing, especially her husband and the boring lives they led.
Additionally, House tried to get his stuff back from the pawn job (Alvie had pawned it to pay for color). Nolan asked why it was so important to him and eventually Nolan found out that Alvie had pawned an important book. More on that a little later.
The woman was getting sicker and sicker and the husband wasn't helping as he forced intimacy upon her. House sympathised with her and Nolan wondered why. House then found out that an old tattoo was the reason the woman was sick. The husband changed his approach and wooed her. Nolan found that very interesting, too. (He was annoying House and me, too.)
House ratted Alvie out to immigration but then helped him by producing fake evidence that he was Puerto Rican. House then thought that maybe Alvie would stay, but he left to live with a cousin. House was alone again. And started drinking. And then going out. And getting hit.
Nolan was still not quite getting it: Why did House tell him about the case and Alvie and Wilson? Rleationships were on his mind and the fact that House didn't have one. Back to the book: The book was written by Cuddy's great-grandfather and House wanted to give it to her for a special occasion. Alvie stole it back from the one who bought it at the pawnshop and it was very important to House. Nolan called him out on that and House snapped: He had tried to do everything Nolan wanted and he wasn't getting happier. So he quit therapy and stormed out of Nolan's office. To be continued.
I really enjoyed the episode and can't wait to see what will happen in the season finale. House is unraveling - again.
Best Moment: It's so cute that House would go all through this trouble to get a book that he might one day give to Cuddy.
Weirdest Moment: House ratting out Alvie. But it all made sense afterwards.
Favourite Quote:
Nolan: "Have you gotten any other people angry at you over anything?"
House: "Well, yeah. That's why I called it an ordinary week."
