What's on this Week? (1/11 - 1/17)

Finally, all of my shows return (well, except for Gossip Girl, that's not back until March) and I couldn't be more excited. This is going to be an awesome week. The only thing I'm worried about is that won't be able to do anything else as Desperate Housewives is also back in Germany and I'm currently rewatching Sex and the City. Sometimes I just love my life.
Furthermore, the episodes airing are not only some episodes: Chuck is back with three episodes, Scrubs has two episodes a week, How I met your Mother celebrates its 100th episode and Grey's Anatomy (which has been on hiatus for quite some time now) and Private Practice
will cross over once again.

Monday: The Big Bang Theory: "The Psychic Vortex" (03x12)

While Sheldon and Koothrappali attend a university mixer, Leonard is upset to discover that Penny believes in psychics.

Monday: How I met your Mother: "Girls Vs. Suits" (05x12)

When Barney debates giving up wearing suits in order to land a hot bartender, his conflicted feelings lead to an amazingly awesome musical number. Meanwhile, Ted gets one step closer to meeting the future mother of his kids.

Monday: Chuck: "Chuck vs. the Angel of Death" (03x03)

Chuck must use his relationship with Awesome to protect a visiting dictator, Premier Goya, who is the target of an assassination. While Awesome is excited about the prospect of being a spy, Chuck is more concerned about Awesome and Ellie’s safety.

Monday: House: "The Down Low" (06x11)

When drug dealer Mickey mysteriously collapses while negotiating a sale, his partner-in-crime, Eddie, accompanies him to Princeton Plainsboro for treatment. But with a major deal pending, Mickey is not forthcoming with the necessary personal information the team needs to treat him. As Mickey's condition worsens, the team resorts to old-fashioned detective work to solve the case. Meanwhile, House and Wilson compete for the affection of a new neighbor, and Chase, Thirteen and Taub attempt to play a practical joke on Foreman.

Tuesday: Scrubs: (09x10)(09x11)

Thursday: Bones: "The X in the File" (05x11)

An out-of-this-world case brings Brennan and Booth to New Mexico where they investigate human remains with extraterrestrial attributes. The victim is identified as a local UFO fanatic, known around town for her relentless search for alien life forms and whose latest "evidence" leads even Brennan and Booth to re-think outside existence. Meanwhile, a local sheriff refuses to release the bones, forcing the team at the Jeffersonian to work via satellite, and Angela and Jeffersonian intern Wendell come clean about their relationship.

Thursday: Grey's Anatomy: "Blink" (06x11)

Mark flies Addison to Seattle to help with a difficult procedure on his pregnant daughter, Sloan, Owen questions Teddy's motives when she assigns Cristina the lead on a complicated surgery, and Derek's suspicions are raised when the Chief recruits Meredith to assist with a high profile operation.

Thursday: Private Practice: "Another Second Chance" (03x11)

Desperate to help his pregnant daughter, Mark follows Addison back to Oceanside Wellness, Dell and Naomi struggle to raise their children under the same roof, and Violet and Cooper heatedly disagree on how to treat a patient.

Current Mood: I'm so excited!!!

Sunday: Chuck: "Chuck vs. the Three Words" (03x02)

Chuck gets a new mission when Sarah’s best friend Carina comes through town with her fiancĂ© Karl. Things get complicated when Chuck wants to hash out his and Sarah’s relationship problems while they’re on the mission. Meanwhile, Morgan finds himself in trouble when he lies to Jeff and Lester.

Monday: Gossip Girl: "The Treasure of Serena Madre" (03x11)

It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving on the Upper East Side if there wasn’t a serving or two of some major drama for the holiday. Vanessa is supposed to spend Thanksgiving with her parents, but has a fight with her mom and shows up on Dan’s doorstep. Rufus learns that Lily has been lying to him about her mother, Cece. Couples Countdown TOP 5

In a mere 2 weeks we have reached the TOP 5 of my Couple's Countdown and as I have to rewrite 2 out of my top 5, because new episodes aired, this is basically a filler post, looking back over the last 20 (or rather 21) couples.

Here they are again, neatly from 25 to 6:

Nr.25: Sabrina & Harvey (LINK)
Nr.24: Becky & Jesse (LINK)
Nr.23: Summer & Seth (LINK)
Nr.22: Lynette & Tom (LINK)
Nr.21: Phoebe & Cole (LINK)
Nr.20: Phoebe & Mike (LINK)
Nr.19: Susan & Mike (LINK)
Nr.18: Marissa & Ryan (LINK)
Nr.17: Jordan & Dr.Cox (LINK)
Nr.16: Grace & Will (LINK)
Nr.15: Angela & Jack (LINK)
Nr.14: Gabrielle & Carlos (LINK)
Nr.13B: Piper & Leo (LINK)
Nr.13A: Blair & Chuck (LINK)
Nr.12: Elliot & JD (LINK)
Nr.11: Fran & Maxwell (LINK)
Nr.10: Carrie & Mr.Big (LINK)
Nr.9: Carla & Turk (LINK)
Nr.8: Christina & Burke (LINK)
Nr.7: Izzie & Alex (LINK)
Nr.6: Christina & Owen (LINK)
Of course, most of my favourite shows are already there, some of them more than once.
Desperate Housewives (3), Bones (1), Grey's Anatomy (3) and Scrubs (3) are all mentioned, but there are still some couples from that show that are missing. And one show hasn't made an appearance yet. Who will it be?
We also encountered some couples from shows that have already ended, but there are still so many good memories about them, that I enjoyed writing about them again. Of course Friends (1), but also Full House (1), Sabrina, the teenage witch (1), Sex and the City (1), The Nanny (1), The OC (2), Will & Grace (1) and Charmed (2) and there are still two major couples from this category.
We also had a last-minute contestant from Gossip Girl (1), which is my new addiction/guilty pleasure. This reminds me of some couples that didn't get in here, as for example Chuck and Ned from "Pushing Daisies" (who I totally forgot), any couple from Private Practice (who I forgot, too, but I love Addison and Pete or Cooper and Violet) or Nate and Serena from "Gossip Girl" (who I don't ship that much). Maybe I'll do another Couples Countdown in the next Summer hiatus, but this one is supposed to be about couples that melted my icy heart ;)
There's really not much else to say, except that it was absolutely hell to rank the last five couples as I love them so much and they are sometimes one of the main reasons I watch the show. These five couples are of course subject to change and tehy will change next season, I'm sure. But nontheless, four of them will remain in the top 5 if nothing major happens. The fifth one is a new one, so I hope it will stay there, but who knows what show I will watch next...
Enjoy the TOP 5!!!

Couples Countdown Nr.9

Carla & Turk
(Scrubs)

Current status: Married, one child (Izzie), one on the way
The Beginning: Carla and Turk almost slept together in the pilot episode of the show, but Carla let him undress and then left.
Course of the Relationship: For some time, Turk tried to get a date with Carla, but she didn't want to because she was looking for the "real" thing. After some time they started dating and eventually Turk told Carla, a he loved her (After everyone thought they were about to break up) A year later, Turk asked Carla to marry her, but she needed some time to think. When Turk was almost ready to give up, she accepted and they got married in the hospital because Turk missed the ceremony in the church. They tried for some time to get pregant and eventually succeeded. Their little daughter Izabel (Izzie) was born and after suffering through postpartum depression, Carla returned to work. Carla's thinking about having a second baby while Turk has grown up but is still a little boy when he's around JD.
The End & Future: Carla gets pregnant with their second child. In the future, their daughter Izzie is marrying JD's son Sam.

When I fell in love with them: Season 1, episode 12, "My blind date" Turk and Carla have a fight and you think they break up, but Turk tells her that he wants to spend "every iritating moment" with her. I loved that episode.
Why I like them: Again, I like this relationship because of its reality and nice romantic moments. It's not over the top romantic as other relationship and you can always relate to them. They're scared of commitment, they have fights and when they have a baby, they know it's not going to be easy. On the other hand they always stay together, they help each other through problems and most important: Carla accepts Turk's weird guy-friendship with JD ;) They just live their everyday life with all its ups and downs.
Best Moment: I liked the birth of their daughter very much, their song in "My Musical" and the above mentioned moment when they realize they love each other.
Saddest Moment: I was very disappointed when Turk didn't make it to the wedding on time. I just felt so sorry for Carla. The other moment would be Carla's suffering through postpartum depression that made me almost cry.

Why Nr.9? It's an almost perfect relationship with ups and downs and a lot of realism.
Miscellaneous: Maybe you should call this realtionship a "triangle"… JD and Turk are really close , too :D

Couples Countdown Nr.12

Elliot & JD
(Scrubs)

Current status: Together
The Beginning: JD was smitten the instant he saw Elliot. He asked her out but she turned out to be a little, well let's call it competitive.
Course of the Relationship: They decided to become friends instead although JD always wanted her to be more. A little later, they slept together and they were a couple for a few weeks but they realized that they weren't cut out to be a couple. After some uncomfortable days, they were friends again but slept together a year after they broke up, split up and slept together again, after JD realized that he loved her. Elliot left her boyfriend for JD who then realized he didn't want her. Both had several relationships, JD got a son and Elliot got engaged, but they also shared a moment when they almost kissed. Elliot broke up with Keith and JD didn't get together again with his child's mother. They got back together just ebcause they decided they belong together.
The End & Future: A flash-forward suggests they get married and Elliot gets pregnant.

When I fell in love with them: I liked them in the first season, especially when they shared that pizza.
Why I like them: I liked their relationship when they first hooked up and I loved the second time. When they split up the second time, I thought: Well, maybe that's not meant to be. JD started to like her and she split up with her boyfriend. And then, when they just got back together, JD didn't want her any more. I absolutely hated that. Since then, I'm rather sceptic and for a long time I couldn't imagine them being together again. But recently, I kind of got used to the idea, so maybe... some time... who knows?
Best Moment: When they hooked up for the third time I felt so happy for them because they seemed to genuinely like each other this time. Right before JD didn't want her any more.
Saddest Moment: The end of "My bed, banter and beyond". The whole episode was about their relationship and at that point it was already clear that they will split up. But the episode jumped back to the first day of their relationship and they were so full of hope, I felt so sorry for them that it didn't work out.

Why Nr.12? Sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't. I haven't made up my mind yet.
Miscellaneous: I always like to think of them as the "Ross and Rachel" of our time.

Couples Countdown Nr.17

Jordan & Dr.Cox
(Scrubs)

Current status: Divorced, but a couple, two children
The Beginning: JD sleeps with the new boardmember Jordan and discovers that she's Cox's ex-wife. Cox and Jordan have been married before the show but they couldn't get along. After meeting for some time just to sleep with each other, they get together again.
Course of the Relationship: Jordan's pregnancy softens Cox and when he finds out that Jordan's son Jack is actually his, the couple seems to grow even closer. One day, they get to know that they're actually married but they decide to get divorced, because it makes them happier than being married. They usually fight a lot but they have their moments. When Jack is older, they want to give their "baby-stuff" away, but a few days later they find out that Jordan's pregnant again. They decide to keep the baby but they have more problems when it turns out that the little girl has to undergo surgery in the womb. Eventually she gets born healthy and named Jennifer Dylan (J.D.).
The End & Future: In season 8 and the finale, they grow even closer.

When I fell in love with them: Season 2, episode 8 "My Fruit Cups": After they have had casual sex for a while, Jordan returns pregnant from a trip and tells Cox that some bellboy got her pregnant. Cox choses her and his sentence "Hey Lady. I'm proud of what you're doing here" made me ship this couple for the whole show.
Why I like them: Their differences. They seem to argue all the time, they have wonderful battles. She is an evil witch, he's an arrogant, cocky doctor. But they complete each other perfectly, seem to be good parents and their few romantic moments are wonderful.
Best Moment: I don't have one specific moment, just those few moments when they behave like a loving couple and not fighting for a change.
Saddest Moment: Season 2, Episode 2 "My Nightingale" Cox found out thathe is the father of baby Jack. He breaks up with Jordan but she keeps running after him until he eventually forgives her. I hated to see this cuple almost split up.

Why Nr.17? Married, divorced, in love, two children, but they refuse to get married: A very special couple who seem to argue more than they love each other.
Miscellaneous: It's not the usual couple, but there is a lot of chemistry. If Scrubs was a drama show, I'd love this couple even more. But because it's a comedy show and an ensemble show, they don't get enough screen-time.

Finale month

I can't believe another TV year has passed. I remember waiting for September, for new House, Scrubs, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and Private Practice episodes. A new season, a season without a strike which has cut the last one short. (I still believe Pushing Daisies would have survived without the strike)
And now, the final episodes of my favourite shows are here and I can't wait.

Thursday, April 30th: Private Practice: "Yours, mine and Ours" (02x22)

As Violet chooses between Pete and Sheldon, a grief-stricken patient poses a danger to her; Addison faces her feelings for Noah as Morgan goes into labor; Dell has concerns for his daughter when a drugged-out Heather returns to town; and Naomi must decide if it's in her best interest to stay with Oceanside Wellness or start anew at Pacific Wellcare.
This one has already aired and it's the first finale of my shows. It was kinda good (Read review HERE), but definetly not the one I was waiting for the most.

Wednesday, May 6th: Scrubs: "My Finale" (08x18/19)

J.D. plans to say goodbye to Sacred Heart, but will his final day stand up to his fantasy of scoring a hug from Dr. Cox or learning the Janitor's real name? Meanwhile, when random furnishings from Elliot's apartment turn up in J.D.'s place, it becomes clear that she finally plans to take their relationship to a whole new level.
I can't wait to watch this, but I definetly need peace and quiet for this good-bye. I can't believe this great show has ended. It really has been a part of my life. (Yeah, I know they might get a ninth season, but come on: Scrubs without JD?)

Monday, May 11th: House: "Both Sides Now" (05x24)

House and the team are intrigued by Scott, a man whose left brain and right brain operate independently, leaving him with two distinct personalities and no control over some of his actions. As the two sides of Scott’s brain struggle for dominance, his warring personalities make it increasingly difficult for the team to figure out what is causing the unique problem. The team is forced to use some unusual methods to get him to cooperate with their necessary testing. Meanwhile, when House refuses to make an appearance in the clinic, Cuddy takes an unconventional approach to force House to make up the time with a particular patient .
House and Cuddy had sex last week (read review HERE), so this is going to be an interesting finale. Plus Amber'scoming back, plus I have this feeling somthing terrible is going to happen (The Promo doesn't look good either)

Thursday, May 14th: Grey's Anatomy: "Now or Never" (05x24)

George delivers stunning news to Bailey, sending shockwaves throughout the hospital, and Izzie's friends anxiously await her recovery from surgery. Meanwhile Bailey is surprisingly displeased after being accepted into the pediatric fellowship program, and the victim of a near-fatal traffic accident brings the talents of Seattle Grace's doctors together.
I hope it's going to be good. But Grey's always had great finales and my hopes are high for this one. And as it concludes my TV season, I really hope, they go out with a bang.

Current Mood: Stressed, but happy
