House: "The Itch" (05x07)

Is there a better way of starting a new blog than with House, my favourite currently airing show? No there isn't and I've waited long enough for this episode thanks to the election. ;)
It's one episode AJ (After "Joy") and of course that means one episode after House and his favourite boss Cuddy locked lips because her adoption of a baby girl fell through. It was an highly emotional kiss and House and Cuddy have to deal with the aftermath of that night. After House and Cuddy unsuccessfully talk about their kiss, Wilson plays matchmaker and we find out that both Cuddy and House thought at one time about having a relationship. But somehow no one can make a move and Wilson is definetly right: House is afraid to be happy.

The patient of the week is a guy named Stewart who's afraid to leave his house because his girlfriend was shot in a robbery. He has a panic attack one day and Cameron takes on his case. Although House is pretty much preoccupied with the whole Cuddy-situation, he gets interested and the old and the new team work together to save him.
The problem: The patient won't leave his house whatever may happen and so the doctors have to bring everything to the patient's house. Of course House won't accept that, drugs the patients, brings him to the hospital and tries to operate on him. Unfortunately they are busted by Cuddy who takes the case away from the team. House seemingly surrenders but eventually he does what he always does: He goes behind her back and saves the patient. And he has a really important message for Cameron and the patient: You have to overcome your fears. Unfortunately House himself doesn't follow his own advice: He chickens out in front of Cuddy's door and doesn't ask her for a date. But on the other hand: For the first time you can see that House actually might have feelings for her. (Ok, all Huddy-fans have seen it coming long ago and of course there have been many moments of them getting closer. But now House almost shows his feelings (at least to Wilson) and he makes an almost-move.

It was a pretty good episode (Ok, House is always pretty awesome) and I enjoyed it very much. The patient was very interesting although slightly annoying and I enjoyed having the old team and the new team working together. Cameron was of course back in a bigger capacity than Chase and I remembered why Cameron is different from 13: She cares a lot about her patients. This slightly annoying, protective caring about her patients and her strong ethics set her apart from 13 who most of the times seems cold. I stress this point because when House first hired 13 I thought she was exactly like Cameron - but she really isn't.
More Cameron meant of course more Chase: The two of them are actually together (although Jennifer and Jesse's break-up seems to have some effects on their on-screen relationship because to me it seemed pretty cold) and having some problems because Cameron won't let him into her life. It was nice to see their relationship evolve; I really liked their relationship back in season 3 and missed them, although I like the new team, I'm still not used to them.

Final thought: I liked the concept of the mosquito and the itch which was bothering House. I really love it when episodes are well-scripted and little things like that have a deeper meaning - or when the patients problem mirrors House's problem.

Best Moment: House leaves his apartment without his cane, goes to Cuddy's house and tries to get up the courage to ask her out. He doesn't succeed but who cares? It was one of the few moments we see House essentially vulnerable. And he actually tries to do something that would probably be good for him!
Weirdest Moment: Wilson tries to get Cuddy and House together by asking her out. I know it was a hoax but somehow the whole situation was awkward. I had the impression, that Wilson might actually like Cuddy.
Favourite Quote:
Dr. Wilson: Everything else good?
Dr. Cuddy: Uh, everything involving me kissing House is good. Oh God, you dragged it out of me. You're a genius. It's no big deal. I was feeling vulnerable. He's a friend. And I leaned on him.
Dr. Wilson: It's funny. I've leaned on friends in the past. Never leaned so far my tongue fell into their mouths.
