Hilary Duff and Tyra Banks on Gossip Girl? I loved one and hated the other. Oh, and there was a very cute Chair-scene ;)
Dan and Olivia (oh, and Vanessa): I never had something against Hilary Duff, I've just been worried about her on Gossip Girl. But because I have never heard her English voice before, only the German dubbing, it totally works for me. She and Dan met at a newspaper stand and it was kinda cute. She told him that her name was Kate because she wanted to get away from all the fans and be a normal college student. Dan, having lived under a rock, didn't recognize her and just went out with her. Olivia's new roommate was Vanessa, who wasn't seen very often in this episode. She was the one who took Dan to Olivia's movie premiere after Olivia and Dan broke up again and there Dan found out about Olivia's real identity. At first he told her it wouldn't work, but they then met again at a coffeeshop and decided to go out again. I loved that he said he doesn't even know why he was pretending to think about it. Oh, and Nate was absolutely adorable: snickering when he saw who Dan was dating. I kinda like Dan and Olivia as a couple and I love that it will create tension when Georgina returns. She was in the last scene, together with Scott back in Boston. Drama! Yeah!
Serena, Tyra Banks, Rufus and Lily: Meanwhile, Serena had to deal with Olivia's co-star, played by Tyra Banks. Don't even remember the character name. And I want to forget her really quickly. Now, I don't even really know Tyra Banks because I don't watch Topmodel and she's not that famous over her, but boy, this girl can't act. She kept overacting every single line. But it was also a littley enjoyable as it was soooo dramatic. Serena tried to prove to Lily who returned earlier that she could do something useful with her life instead of going to Brown. Lily was furious (btw: I loved Rufus' impersonation of Lily, lol) and told her that celebrity agent wasn't a real job. Which, let's face it, it's probably not. But Serena soon became Tyra's confidante and got along well with her. She then warned Tyra that she shouldn't make a scene, when her favourite scene was cut. The other agent wanted her to rant in front of the press, but Serena made sure Tyra wouldn't do that - and got fired. She then got reemployed because of Tyra. It was an OK storyline, a little bit implausible, but OK. Glad Serena got ajob and glad that Tyra's gone!
Eric, Jenny, Chuck and Blair: Back at Constance and St.Jude's, school is about to start and Jenny is supposed to take over from Blair as Queen. But Jenny doesn't want to do that, instead, she proclaims that form now on, everyone is equal. I laughed so hard, when Eric and Jenny were greeted by three girls with racoon eyes and Jenny told them to wash their eyes. Well, the problem with egalitarianism is that there is always someone who wants more. Thus, the three girls tried to take over - with the help of Blair. She hosted her annual sleep-over and jumped at the chance of being a queen again. Jenny teamed up with Chuck (which is kinda weird as he tried to rape her, but everyone tries to forget that as soon as possible. I'd also like to forget pilot-Chuck as I think he already changed in the second episode). They tried to make Blair jealous and succeeded. Blair was fuming, but then she had a talk with Chuck who told her she was Blair Waldorf and she'd succeed in ruling NYC. This was probably one of the cutest scenes ever. I loved that he was telling her that if she could get him to say I love you she could do anything. Although he payed the paparazzi to take her picture, that was just what she needed. She then found girls who would help her rule NYC. YEAH! The queen is back! (And I love Chuck and Blair as a couple - they're actually as good together as apart. Maybe even better)
All in all, it was a surprisingly delightful episode - minus Tyra Banks. Maybe it was because Vanessa had almost no scenes, but I really liked this week's episode. Next Week: Rufus and Lily are supposed to get married and Georgina is back and on a war path because Dan is dating Olivia. Big DRAMA! I'm very excited.
Best Moment: Aside from the Chair-moment, probably Nate's snickering when Dan asked Olivia out.
Weirdest Moment: Tyra's first appearance. She overacted sooo much!
Favourite Quote:
Blair: "Chuck, NYU is not the Upper East Side. They don't care about Constance, or social hierarchy. They don't care that I'm Blair Waldorf! It's over."
Chuck: "How can you do this to me?"
Blair: "What are you talking about?"
Chuck: "I'm Chuck Bass. And I told you I love you. You're saying I'm easier to win over than a bunch of pseudo-intellectual homesick malcontents. You really insult me like that?"
Blair: "That's not how it is."
Chuck: "It's exactly how it is. The next time you forget you're Blair Waldorf, remember I'm Chuck Bass. And I love you."
