House: "Ignorance is Bliss" (06x09)

It’s Thanksgiving at Princeton Plainsboro, but almost everyone has nothing to be thankful for. House is still deciding what to do about Cuddy, Chase has just been left by Cameron and the patient of the week – well he’s dying, so I guess, he’s also pretty unhappy.
The case this week was very interesting: A young man, who used to be a brilliant scientist, was working as a courier and collapsed while delivering a package. House was of course more interested why he was working as a courier instead of what was wrong with him, but he figured that out anyway. The team found alcohol and pills and it turned out that he was deliberately medicating himself so that he was dumber and could be happy with his wife. House didn’t understand this of course and healed him, but he then saw that this genius guy was very unhappy and left some pills in his room. House seemed to understand the concept of being too smart and too out of touch with the real world to be happy. I liked this conflict; a conflict that has been rearing its head several times this season.
There was – as already mentioned – some personal drama this week. After being left by his wife, Chase was moping and looking sad and was generally very miserable. House kept pushing his buttons and eventually, Chase punched House which also solved a problem for Taub: His wife wasn’t happy about him returning to House and so he told her he had set some ground rules and showed him a picture of House. But I’m getting of point: Chase seemed to be better afterwards and House was okay with being punched. Guess he thought he deserved it. And he did.
Finally, there was House’s storyline. He had decided what to do with the whole Cuddy-Lucas situation: He was going to break them up. Wilson wasn’t surprised and seemed rather intrigued to what House was planning. He found out that Cuddy was having Thanksgiving at her sister’s and decided to get an invite. He flirted with her and reluctantly, she gave him the address. House then took Wilson to her sisters House and even brought a gift. He knocked on the door and someone opened: The house sitter who made him a sandwich. Cuddy had fooled him which broke my heart a little. She was having a happy Thanksgiving and House was in a vacant lot. And House was seemingly heart-broken, too. He went over to Lucas, drunk and whined: “I’m pathetic, I don't deserve her". Lucas fell for it and told Cuddy they should not be seeing each other and House seemingly won. But of course it was a scam. Cuddy was one step ahead of House and had prepared Lucas. She visited him and told him to back off once and for all. “There is no us” she told him and I felt a little weird because it feels as if she doesn't even give him a chance any more. House was seemingly okay with it and backing off. Just like that.
Well, we’ll see how long that’ll last.
All in all, this was a good episode with an interesting case and a lot of scheming between Cuddy and House. But I’m a little worried if the whole Cuddy-House thing could be over once and for all.

Best Moment: Chase punching House. Classic.
Weirdest Moment: House whining about Cuddy and Lucas not realizing that he was faking.
Favourite Quote:
House: “I'm going to pretend there's something interesting over there so you'll shut up.”

Current Mood: Mixed feelings
