Private Practice: "The Hard Part" (03x07)

Since I watched this episode, I have read several reviews that this episode was not accepted well. I on the other hand loved it. It was intense, dramatic and a little different. Lately, Private Practice is often a little blah, but I really liked the change of pace in this episode.
Addison and Sam go for a hike in Malibu and then stumble upon a man who just had an accident with his car. His wife, nine months pregnant, is in the car and can’t get out and the guy is so hurt he can’t be left alone. All very dramatic. Addison then climbs into the car to help her (okay, I got to admit this was pretty damn stupid) and the car starts to roll down the hill again, trapping Addison with the woman. Of course, labour starts soon and Addison has her hands full with the woman and Sam tries to juggle caring for the husband and getting help. The baby is born healthy (but it was pretty close) and the paramedics arrive. In this moment, the guy’s heart gives up and the mother just slips away. In the end, she dies, the baby lives and the husband survives, too. I was impressed by Addison this episode and very moved that the little baby was called Addison, too. BUT: I really don’t care for the whole Sam-Addison thing they’re trying to pull. Stealing another woman’s ex-husband? And her best friend’s? Addison should know better.
Meanwhile, Charlotte, Cooper and Violet treat a young man who was so excited for his wedding night (his first time) that he took too much Viagra. There is a whole lot of stuff going on between the three of them and especially Coop and Charlotte who have just been fighting all the time. In the end, Charlotte (who I love more and more) btw tells Cooper that she has been married before and he is shocked. Guess we’ll hear more about that soon.
And finally, Pete and Sheldon are – coincidentally – in the same bar, but fall for the same girl. They try to impress her and both have their wins and losses. But in the end, it turns out that Pete is in no way over Violet and can’t go home with the woman. Well, Sheldon doesn’t go home with her either, but the two guys form a sort of friendship. Nice to see them bond – and I guess we’ll see more Violet-Pete in the future. I actually start to like them.
All in all, I really liked this episode because it was dramatic, a little different and just exciting. Can’t wait to see what happens with Charlotte and Cooper and if Addison and Sam will hook up.
