WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Oh my God. This was the best episode of Bones this season and - I dare say it - the best one yet. I LOVE IT!
I so thought this episode would be one of this overhyped episodes and when it started a little slow, I though: "Oh my". But after 5 minutes I was convinced and completely in love with it. It's actually 2 am in Germany, but I really had to write this before I forget everything.
So, let's back up for a moment. It's the 100th episode. Booth, Brennan and Sweets came together to talk about Sweets book about them (you know, the one that concludes they're in love) and that conclusion wasn't the thing that bothered Brennan: She wanted to tell Sweets that the first case (the case in the pilot) wasn't their first case. They had worked together before.
Booth had an unsolved case and (reluctantly) agreed to aks Brennan and the Jeffersonian for help. Cam was actually the one who brought them together, although Brennan wouldn't remember her at the beginning of season 2. Theit short meeting wasn't very friendly, so no problems there. Brennan and Booth on the other hand clicked (I loved the whole; "Do you believe in fate" thing. Cute)
Booth then gave her the skeleton and she was supposed to find out everything about it (as a test). Booth was impressed when she nailed it, with the help of her team. I loved seeing Zack again; what a cute little man and Hodgins and his rubber band and perm. Loved that. We also got to know how Angela and Brennan met: through some seminar. Brennan then asked her to draw the victim's face and so she became a member of the team.
Meanwhile, everything went well and Sweets was devastated as he based his thesis on their original dislike. Brennan and Booth then told him how they tried to find the victim's murderer and how Brennan first sat in the room when Booth "broiled" (=grilled^^) the suspect. They then found evidence that the suspect might have done it, but the arrogant prick told Brennan that she was ridiculous. Brennan then punched him in the face (which Booth found hot).
Sweets (who was adorably desperate) found out they were flirtatious and easy when they first met and that was fun to watch. After Brennan had punched the guy, Booth took Brennan to a bar and they drank tequila. After having some fun, he told her she was fired (Miss Julian told him to do that btw. She was the prosecutor in the case but decided not to remember squints; so that's why she didn't know Brennan later).
And then? In a surprising twist, Brennan told Booth that if they weren't working together, they could have sex and they stormed out the door and hailed a cab. While waiting for it, Booth admitted he was a gambler because he felt there was something between them and then they kissed. Tomgue and everything. SQUEEEEEEEE!
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I'm sorry. I've got it together now. I actually kinda suspected they might have done something way back then, maybe even have slept together. That's what Sweets suspected and he spoke those words that were running through my head: "It's like you've missed your chance" Actually, they didn't go any further and Brennan decided to go home alone and Booth also went home. Chance missed.
The next day, Booth found out that the Jeffersonians had brought him enough evidence for a warrant and he wanted to hire them (and especially Brennan) back. But now the atmosphere between them had cooled down and they became the Brennan and Booth we got to know in the first episodes: Bickering and fighting. Sweets was desperate. As was I.
They actually convicted the suspect (btw, the case was interesting, but sidelined by the flashbacks) and then really started to fight. He held her arm, she skapped him and called him stupid. He called her arrogant and mentioned her dad (bad move) and they didn't speak for a year. And that was the conclusion of the flashbacks. But not of the episode.
Sweets was wild: He tried to talk them into admitting their feelings for one another. Brennan isnisted that neither of them were in love, and Booth looked hurt. Sweets looked at him, trying to force the words out of his mouth, but then Booth just asked Bones id she wanted to get something to eat. Sweets was done and so was I. I really thought they would just leave it at that.
And then the most amazing thing happened: Booth decided to tell her how he felt. He told her that he knew she was the one, he felt it all along and he wanted them to have a shot. They kissed again. SQEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. But then Brennan looked him in the eye and in a heartbreaking scene she told him that she couldn't gamble on this, she couldn't be sure how she or he felt in 10 years. In a way, she told him she was not ready to risk their friendship. Both of them had tears in their eyes, Booth tried to convince her, but finally he told her that he had to start looking for someone who could love him.
And then they walked away together, arm in arm, Brennan's head on his shoulder. Wonderful.
I still can't believe how wonderful, sad, romantic, nostalgic and great this episode was. This is how you do 100th episodes people. (House producers, I'm talking to you!) It's now 3 am. And I'm going to watch this once again. I have to. Because it's just wonderful.
Best Moments:
Zack is back! Love that guy.
Hodgins hitting Zack with a baseball bat and Brennan hitting even harder.
TWO KISSES!!!!
Favourite Quotes:
Booth: "When you talk to older couples who, you know, have been in love for 30 or 40 or 50 years, alright, it’s always the guy who says, ‘I knew.’ I knew. Right from the beginning…. I’m that guy. Bones, I’m that guy. I know."
Brennan: Why did you feel you had to tell me that?
Booth: I don’t know. I just feel like, um, this is goin’ somewhere.
Brennan: Why did you feel like this is going somewhere?
Booth: I don’t know. I just, I feel like I’m gonna kiss you.
