After last weeks death-themed episode and the chief's announcement that Seattle Grace would merge with Mercy West, the new episodes promised to be exciting. And it was a pretty great episode, probably even better than last week's.
The main theme this time was fear, paranoia if you will, represented by the son of a patient who suffered from severe paranoia. But he was not the only one who was scared: Everyone feared for their jobs (except maybe for Sloan) and nobody knew what was going to happen because the chief locked himself up in his office.
The attendings: As already said, Mark was the only one who didn't seem to be worried, but the rest was. Derek was mad because the chief didn't talk to him and made cuts in his department without even asking him although he was the one who told him about the board's coup. I think he was mainly worried that one of his colleagues was fired and not him. Owen was pretty relaxed, trying to get Christina to relax, too.
The interns: The only intern we worry about, Lexie, was as worried as possible. Although she's a very good doctor, she was scared she could get fired. She (and all the other interns and residents) spent days at the clinic, not sleeping, not eating. I loved that little scene where she fell with the blood bags. Now Chyler Leigh's not pregnant any more, there's more physical comedy again. Fun.
The residents: Like the interns, Christina, Meredith, Alex and Izzie were pretty worried that they might lose their jobs. Christina did the unthinkable: She sucked up to Arizona and got into Pedes. It was so funny to see Christina interact with children, but I gotta say that a few seasons ago, she would have been even more unfriendly. Callie told Arizona just that and Arizona was pretty pissed, but more concerned about the fact that Callie wanted to leave Seattle Grace. They then officially said that they were girlfriend and girlfriend and thus Arizona forbade Callie to leave (Kinda cute). Meanwhile, Meredith was surprisingly cool and helped her friends a lot. Izzie on the other side came back way too early because she was afraid she would get fired. She wore some wigs to "put her patients at ease", but she wasn't at ease herself. Alex had to watch all the time that she'd take her medicine and eat. She even got to do a surgery in which she almost fainted, but it was okay in the end.
The end: Well, as already said, Lexie didn't get fired, but most of her intern class. And Olivia, our beloved nurse. I was actually kinda sad she had to go. She's a part of Grey's Anatomy and although I didn't know she was still there, I will still miss her. All of our beloved residents are still here - for now. There will be another round, but in the end, everyone learned that they couldn't be afraid all the time. So they went playing baseball, to forget their fear for some time.
All in all, I loved this episode and the case. The merger proves to be very interesting and dramatic and I can't wait to see more. A very good season up to now.
Best Scene: The End: All of them are playing baseball. One happy dysfunctional family. Owen and Christina, Derek and Meredith, Mark and Lexie. It's so fun to see them all happy and together. Three gorgeous couples.
Weirdest (funny) Scene: Probably Izzie and her wig. It was a very funny scene; loved Christina's and Meredith's reactions.
Favourite Quote:
Christina: "I have to be on the "stays"-list. That list is everything, it is my future, it's my salvation. The list is life."
Owen: "Schindler's list? You're comparing the merger to the holocaust?
Christina: "I'm Jewish, I'm allowed."
Current Mood: Still relaxed
