Now this was weird. Very weird. Mainly because I'm not a fan of Lady Gaga, but there was still other stuff that bothered me.
The main story-line: The theater-musical-Lady Gaga-thing: Most of out beloved characters were tied up in this week's big event. Blair wanted to be a part of this elitist club of theatre students and so she did some scheming: She wanted to perform at the cabaret and even bring Lady Gaga (apparently Cyrus has some connections). Anyway, she couldn't do it alone and so she had to enlist Olivia who had gotten an invote who again enlisted her beloved boyfriend Dan. Dan on the other hand was a little preoccupied as he thought he was a big stud as he had a threesome with Vanessa and Olivia. Vanessa on the other hand thought it would get weird and was happy to be invited to be the director of the play. So, Olivia, Vanessa and Dan, all in one room. The inevitable thing happened and both girls were at each others throat and Olivia told everyone that Vanessa was in love with Dan after the threesome. Blair overheard and used this to push her agenda. The thing with the lamp and the blackmail was actually pretty funny. And the whole "I have an army to build, a school to take over, girls to blackmail" thing. The play was saved and the really weird part began. They were doing some rendition of Snow White, rapper-style and I really don’t know what it was supposed to be. The a cappella versions were kind of crappy and the only good thing that happened was that Olivia decided to leave Dan and give him and Vanessa a chance. Now Dan’s in love with Vanessa (hasn’t he always been?) and Vanessa doesn’t know. Blair was happy because the play was a success and Lady Gaga actually appeared. That was okay. But apart from the Blair parts (I just love that girl), the thing was confusing and very, very weird.
The side-storyline: Nate actually had something to offer this week: Advice on relationships. As he says: "Affairs with married people, threesomes, it just so happens everyone's problems are within my area of expertise." So, Serena asked him for help because she was in love with Trip and he was married and all. It was actually a little weird that they just put their fight aside, but then I really enjoyed watching. They were celebrating the old times and it was clear that Nate was still in love with Serena. Finally, the season 1 faux-pas (when he told Jenny he loved her instead of Serena) got revealed, but Serena was underwhelmed. In the end, she went off with Trip who found out his wife was the one responsible for man jumping in the water to be saved by Trip. Poor Nate. He looked like a hurt puppy when Serena “crossed the line” aka went away with Trip. And she is really in a downwards spiral. Hope Serena and Nate work it out. I love them as a couple.
The side-side-storyline: In an attempt to make Jenny more interesting, she was “babysitting” an Belgian ambassador’s son for Chuck and the guy was kinda cute. And he was also a drug dealer. Jenny was actually impressed and helped him do his business; exciting. Chuck found out and wanted to protect her (remember when he was the one Jenny had to be protected from. Good old times. No, seriously, I always struggle to forget that, but I’d love to. The Chuck character was just wrong in the pilot) Anyway, Jenny wasn’t listening and she will meet this Belgian again. Could be interesting. Downwards Spiral. Again.
All in all, this was an okay episode with a lot of weird stuff and some funny moments. Hope Serena and Nate get back together and I really, really want more Chuck and Blair instead of Dan and Vanessa.
Best Moment: Blair's scheming was great this episode.
Weirdest Moment: Everything that had got to do with Lady Gaga.
Favourite Quote:
Damien: "Dude. You're overreacting. The lady said she's fine."
Chuck: "Dude. I'm Chuck Bass. Even Europeans must know what that means." (And we do!)
