After last week's great episode, this one proved to be almost as good, but mainly because of a stunning performance by Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester.
But first: Other, less important things. There was of course the Dan and Vanessa thing still to be dealt with and Nate told Dan either to tell her how he felt or to sleep with someone else. I love that they are friends btw. It's really cute. Anyway, Dan decided to go for the second option, but didn't do it eventually, because he got a call that Serena was in the hospital.
Why? Well, Serena had been cooped up with Trip in Nassau county, but Trip me up with his wife who forced him to stay married to her and tried to blackmail Serena into accepting being Trip's mistress with tha letter from last week that had magically appeared in ther coat. Serena was furious that Trip had lied to her and demanded to be taken back to the city. Then they had an accident (were those wolves???) and Trip made it look as if it was her fault. Nate, who is in love with Serena, punched Trip out (yeah) and Trip dissapeared. Serena was sad and concussed, but okay. Especially as all of her friends and family visited her in the hospital.
Including Little J who had been in some scheming war with Eric (she won) and is apparently selling drugs. Oh my. We'll see how that turns out. And Rufus suspects something as he has read the ominous letter. I wanna know what's in there!
The most dramatic and interesting storyline was (once again) the Chuck-Blair one. It was Bart Bass's death's one year anniversary and Chuck was pretty upset - and Blair couldn't help him. Chuck was questioning whether he had become weak and even hallucinating his father. I still hate Bart Bass, even from the grave he's such an a-hole. Blair tried to help him; Lily tried to make him go to Bart's grave but nothing worked. Chuck was pretty upset. Then Serena's accident happened and Chuck rushed to see her. He then remembered that he coudln't be with his father when he died and totally crashed. Blair helped him by saying he was a man in a way his father never was (which is so true) and hey went to Bart's grave. I loved that little scene with Blair and Chuck. They have grown so much over the last episodes. At Bart's grave, there was a surprise: A woman who seems to be Chuck's mother. I was shocked and I am intrigued: Is she really his mother?
All in all this was another good episode. I'm pleased again by Gossip Girl and hope this will continue when Gossip Girl returns in march. Oh God, how will I survive this almost three-month hiatus?
Best Moment: Hands down, Chuck and Blair in the hospial
Weirdest Moment: Wtf, Chuck's mother is alive???
Favourite Quote:
Chuck: "My father always thought I was weak. And in the moment that mattered most I was. I couldn't be there when he ... I left. Right away. I've been pushing myself to prove him wrong, and pushing you away."
Blair: "I don't think you ran away because you couldn't handle death. I think it's because you couldn't handle feelings. You're not like that anymore. You're strong. You carry people. You carry me. You're becoming a man in a way that your father never was. Come. Let's say goodbye."
