I'm actually a pretty rational human being and I don't get excited that easily. No, really, trust me, that's really an exception. Don't get me wrong, I love my shows, I enjoy them and I follow my fictional characters' lives religiously. But usually I'm just excited like a normal person. My shows make me happy or sad and I'm looking forward to them, but that's it. Okay, maybe not quite a normal person as many of my friends think I get a little overexcited, but that's mainly because I watch it in English and can't talk about it and when it comes on on German TV, I have to talk about it as my thoughts have been bottled up for half a year.
But sometimes, I get so obsessed, I don't even know myself anymore. Like now. Or a year ago. Or that year before that. I'll show you:
Single episode freak-outs: (symptoms: rewatching at least two times, reading tons of reviews and forum posts, writing on my wrist (see below), writing blogs, constant talking about it and general obsession)
- May 2008; House; Season 4 finale; ("House's Head" & "Wilson's Heart"): The first time I really got excited over one single episode and couldn't stop talking to my mother about it (cuz noone else would listen. I know, sad) The big bus crash, the fact that Amber died, House and Cuddy romantic tension. That episode has everything and still remains one of my all-time favorites. (My A levels could have suffered from it, but fortunately didn't)
- October 2008; House; Season 5, episode 6 ("Joy"): OMG, I was flailing so hard after this one. The first House and Cuddy kiss. So sad and such a good episode. Had the date of this episode written on my wrist in ink for a week and just couldn't help smiling. That was in my first month of college and I'm luck noone pegged me for crazy.
- May 2009: House; Season 5, episode 23 ("Under my Skin") and episode 24 ("Both Sides Now"): My longest episode flail yet. But as you'll see, April/May '09 was my flailing time (first semester break). I was absolutely frantic when House and Cuddy slept with each other and then totally blown away when it turned out to be a hallicunation. It was one amazing happy week after they did it and I again had the date in ink on my wrist (I do that). Later, I had: "Too bad it's not true". And I was so sorry. Read my recap of "Under my Skin" HERE and of "Both Sides Now" HERE. I remember talking to a friend about it for two hours and to my mother for days and almost weeks. It was the season finale and I had to wait 4 months. Big-time flailing.
- October 2009: Bones; Season 5, episode 5 ("A Night at the Bones Museum"): That was just a little flailing back then. See, I have been almost normal for almost a year now. I'm not crazy^^ I loved the ending of that episode. Remember that my jaw dropped at their proximity. Read recap HERE.
- April 2010: Bones; The 100th episode, ("The parts of the sum of the whole"): Yeah, I don't need to say much about that. That's my current obsession. I have the date and "Nothing happens unless first a dream" written on my wrist. Don't judge me. I just love it. Read my recap instead: HERE.
Show freak-outs: (Symptoms: As above, but accompanied by watching the whole show in one-to-two weeks, episode after episode)
- Summmer 2008: Sex and the City: After my cousin went with me to see the movie, I really got addicted to Sex and the City and got caught up really fast. The Carrie-Big-relationship was the main seller. (Read full story HERE)
- May 2009: Bones: After deciding I needed a new show (Read HERE), I decided I would start watching Bones and I immediately loved it (Read HERE). Watched four seasons in one or two weeks and just got finished in time for the season 4 finale which I loved. Couldn't wait for it to return.
- June 2009: Gossip Girl: Chuck and Blair got me. They're the main reason I watch this show. To be honest, it's sometimes not that good, but those two got me. I kept replaying the season 2 finale again and again on my phone and couldn't get enough of their story. major addiction. And the beginning of the third season was even more awesome. (Read also HERE)
Well, that's about it. I also got a little addicted to Castle, Chuck and The Big Bang Theory, but it was not as hard as these freak-outs that consumed me. I still watch most of the shows, and I go from freaking out to loving it. But I enjoy those highs so much. Can't wait what will get me next. Hopefully the Bones season finale. Or the House one. They're usually pretty great.
